Term 1 Week 7
As you can see in these pictures with Camila (above) and Moo (below), our plants have been growing from the small seeds we planted 2 weeks ago, into plants - some of them are more than 20cm long!
In the photo above, you can see that some of the plants have completely shed the "jacket" of the seed pod, which has allowed roots to grow outwards, absorbing the water in the cup.
On Wednesday, Mrs D played us a clip from YouTube which showed the devastating effects of deforestation. We had some very lively discussions in our groups about our views on this subject, and how we thought it affects our planet Earth.
In the next couple of weeks we will be looking at the effects of deforestation on Natural Disasters. Stay tuned!

Term 1 so far...
The Year 4 class at Emmanuel Christian Community School is comprised of 32 students and is taught by Mrs Suzanne Di Beneditto. In Term 1 the topic is "Rainforests". The class have created rainforest dioramas depicting the forest floor, trees and creatures that live in the forest.
For Science, we have also begun to grow bean seeds in cups to observe and record the growing process from a seed to a plant.
And recently, in Art, Mrs D has been showing us how to create bird paintings using a variety of techniques, such as drawing, brush painting and sponging.
We are looking forward to watching our seeds grow and seeing the finished bird paintings - more photos coming soon!
